Homecoming '97 announcement

September 19, 1997

Dear ØKT Alumnus,

You have received or will soon receive the announcement from the Alumni Office regarding homecoming '97 which will take place on Saturday, October 25. Please check that announcement for the activities planned for the day. Of particular interest are the reception on the Alumni Plaza (in front of Alumni Gym) and the 1:30 football game vs. Patriot League rival Towson State at Fisher Field.

Immediately following the game we will hold our eleventh annual mini-reunion in the East Wing of Marquis Hall. Cheese, crackers, vegetables and dip, beer, wine and soda will be provided, as well as lasagna and salad. A donation of $5 for each adult attending will help us defray the expenses of the reunion. Please send your check made payable to Phi Kappa Tau Alumni Association and the enclosed reservation card to me at the address below. Please indude on the card any information you wish to share with you r brothers. Also, since we usually attract a different group each year, any Phi Tau memorabilia that you would like to bring along would be of great interest to your brothers.

By now you are aware of our home page on the World Wide Web, created for us by Ed Bartosh '70. You can access it directly at http://www.bartosh.com/PhiKappaTau/AO.htm or through the Lafayette homepage (www.lafayette.edu) and clicking on Alumni, then Homepages, and then Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity Alumni. Ed will be posting an update list of those planning to attend as well as any news, greetings, etc. that you send. Check it out!

You may know that for the first time in about ten years, Lafayette has a pep band, organized by the students and comprised of about 40 Lafayette students and 10 high school students. This year, the band is playing for all home and two away football games and several basketball games. Last June, they played for Reunion '97. The college is soliciting financial support for the band through the Annual Fund. I would like to know your opinion of making a contribution to this band from our treasury. This, of cour se, would not preclude your making a personal contribution to the Annual Fund in support of this enthusiastic group of students. (I would be remiss if I did not mention my personal interest, namely that two Ryders are members of the band - Carrie '00 and Steve '01.)

For your information, next year's homecoming is scheduled for October 17,1998 'with a football game vs. Princeton. We look forward to seeing you on October 25.

Fratemally,

Henry Ryder hryder@jersey.net

Updates will be posted on the news page.
