Homecoming 2001 announcement

Phi tau brothers--
Plans for out reunion in 2 weeks are not going so well. First, although I had confirmed the arrangements with Theta Chi in May, that was when my son Steve was still there. Now, he is in Berkeley and the Theta Chi brotherhood has changed since last May. I had kind of a luke-warm response from them about a month ago, and no word since. I don't think going there is a viable option at this point.

But since I've only received 2 positive responses for the Oct 27 reunion, I'm not sure that is enough to have a decent reunion regardless of where we meet. If you remember, about 12 years ago, we would get as many as 15 or 20 brothers and spouses back...last year we had about 4 of us and now we have half of that.

Perhaps the low response is because of the email communication, but I'm not sure. For years, the college sent out about 300 letters for us, about 80% of which went to brothers who never responded. It seemed like a waste of money to continue mailing to those who had no interest, so in last year's letter I said that all future communication would be by email and asked those interested to send me their email addresses. I received none, and the only addresses I how have are the ones who responded in previous years. And some of them are no good any more.

I'm open for suggestions...do some of you want to get together anyhow? Should we try again next year by email? Maybe a Saturday other than homecoming would be better? Maybe a basketball game in Jan. or Feb? We do have some money -- we own a $2400 CD and have $1002 in our checking account.
